“I’m most passionate about facilitating learning about things related to finances, to help people chart their goals and track their progress towards them, hopefully over a long period of time and across generations of families.”
Margaret Ellen Pender was Anchor’s first employee, joining the firm in 2002 as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. She and Pat had worked for the same bank, attended the same church, and lived around the corner from one another, yet they had not met until a family member introduced them. Anchor provided a unique entrepreneurial opportunity, giving Margaret Ellen the chance to employ her customer service background and financial skills to build an organization from the ground up. Her experience in retail management, cost accounting, and running a small business were ideal for the opportunity. Margaret Ellen is best at hearing what her clients need, whether on the financial planning or wealth management front. She’s thorough and detail-oriented and passionate about the privilege of being entrusted to partner with folks in planning their financial futures.
Margaret Ellen has a sister, two nephews, and a niece. She is a Boykin Spaniel enthusiast. She serves on the board for the non-profit organization, The Sounds of Grace. Margaret Ellen professes to be a quintessential neat freak and prefers to spend most of her free time outdoors hunting, fishing, and boating.
